2026 Winner: The Children's Discovery Center

The Children’s Discovery Center (CDC) has been selected as a recipient of an ACH Seeds Homegrown Giving award, receiving $10,000 to support the development of a new STEM learning center designed to serve families across the Wahpeton-Breckenridge region.

Founded nearly six years ago by a group of local mothers passionate about strengthening opportunities for youth and families, The Children’s Discovery Center was created to help rural communities thrive by providing hands-on educational experiences for children of all ages.

As a volunteer-led organization, securing funding remains one of the largest challenges facing this project.

Agriculture will play a visible role in the museum’s programming and exhibits, highlighting the importance of farming and helping visitors better understand how local crops, including sugarbeets, contribute to the regional economy and everyday products.

Construction on this center is expected to begin later this year and will include facility additions that feature interactive exhibits focused on play-based learning for young children.
